| Police action on agitating SRTC employees widely condemned | | | Early Times report Jammu, Nov 13- Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party and Peoples Democratic Party have strongly condemned the brutal lathi charge on agitating SRTC employees and extended their full support to the employees in their on going struggle in support of their genuine demands. S. Daljit Singh, Chairman Panthers Trade Union has strongly condemned the barbaric and brutal lathi charge by J&K police on peaceful agitators of SRTC in Jammu yesterday in which hundreds of agitating employees of SRTC were injured some of them seriously. The undemocratic police action and government failure to provide salaries to SRTC employees for last six months needs condemnation from all sections of the society especially from the trade unions. Singh alleged that state government is responsible for the loss to the state exchequer and SRTC to crores of rupees per month due on going agitation by the SRTC employees demanding implementation of a agreement reached between government and SRTC employees, release of pending salaries for last six months besides implementation of 6th pay commission recommendations. He further said the government has no moral right to continue in office as it has failed on all fronts. Panthers Trade Union has extended its full support to the agitating employees of the SRTC from street to the Apex Court to get them justice, he added. Strongly condemning brutal lathicharge on the agitating employees of the SRTC, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked the State Government to immediately accept the genuine demands of the agitating employees. In a joint statement issued here today, PDP leaders regretted that instead of adopting democratic means to solve the issue authorities at the helm of the affairs have been adopting oppressive measures to stifle the voice of agitating employees. Extending full support to the agitating employees PDP flayed the coalition regime for not taking genuine demands of the agitating employees seriously. PDP leaders regretted that for the last more than six months, SRTC employees and their family members have been agitating on roads for the genuine demands but Government seems to be non serious in solving the issue. They made it clear that their party was fully with the agitating employees. They reminded that during the assembly elections National Conference had promised to fulfill all demands of the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) but after getting power party has ignored such genuine demands. PDP leaders while supporting demands of the employees asserted that party would not remain a mute spectator to the demands of the employees.
