| It is govt of failed promises : Harsh | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov13: Terming the Omar led coalition dispensation as ‘government of announcements and unfulfilled promises’ Vice chairman of the Panthers Party ,Harsh Dev Singh, today wanted to know the fate of the announcements made by the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues during the recently concluded meetings of the district development Boards. He said during the Udhampur district Board meeting it had been announced that work on the sports stadium would be started soon but there has been no such activity at the site where the stadium is to be constructed. He said that if on one side the working season in the Kashmir valley and in Ladakh region had ended because of weather related problem there was no activity as far as the execution of development projects in the Jammu region were concerned. He said he was doubtful whether the Government will be able to complete even 50 per cent of the projects for which the state and the central Governments had earmarked funds. Harsh Dev said that various new schemes had been kept on hold and the state employees had not yet received the arrears of their pay hike, announced on the basis of the 6th pay commission report, because of financial stringency but there was no such economic crisis when Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, took a five-member official delegation to promote tourism in London. Employees of the public sector undertakings were being denied hike in their salaries as provided in the sixth pay commission because of financial difficulties but the Government has, on the other hand, set a new example in financial mismanagement. Despite Finance Minister's suggestion to the Government offices to observe austerity, ministers and senior bureaucrats were seen indulging in wasteful expenses. The Panthers leader wanted the centre to initiate measures so that the state Government was forced to improve its governance. He referred to the recent statement of the Union Home Minister, P.C. Chidambaram, who had cast reflections on the governance in the state. He said if the centre did not monitor the development activities being carried out by the state Government there were possibilities that either the development funds would be misappropriated or underutilized. ***********
