| Charges framed against former jail official | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 13- Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu JR Kotwal today framed charges against Muneer Hussain son of Mohammed Hafiz the then Assistant Superintendent Jail Jammu who was caught red handed while accepting bribe of Rs,.5000 from the complainant. After hearing CPO Purshtom Sharma appearing for the VOJ and Advocate KS Charak appearing for the accused, the Court directed for trial of the case. According to the case Rajinder Singh son of the complainant was involved in case u/s 302 lodged in District Jail Jammu. The complainant Beant Singh used to meet his son in the jail once in a week as per the J&K Jail Manual Provisions and used to approach accused Muneer Hussain Assistant Superintendent Jail (Incharge Mulaqat). Muneer Hussain harassed the complainant time and again and did not allow him to meet his son as per the jail rules once in a week. However, daughter-in-law and wife of the complainant were not allowed to see Rajinder Singh despite repeated request to Muneer Hussain. On denial the complainant on March 26, 2008 requested accused Muneer Hussain to allow him to meet his son but the accused out rightly refused and demanded illegal gratification of Rs 5000 for arranging a meeting with his son Rajinder Singh. Accused Muneer Hussain asked the complainant to come near Peer Baba Shrine on March 27, 2008 in the afternoon with bribe money. Under these compelling circumstances the complainant lodged a complaint in VOJ and on March 27,2008 and Vigilance Organization caught red-handed the accused Muneer Hussain while accepting Rs 5000 from the complainant and registered a case u/s 5(1) (d) r/w section 5(2) J&K PC Act 2006 and section 161 RPC.
