| Judge Bilal Nazki is CJ of Orissa | | | Agencies Mumbai, Nov 13: Justice Bilal Nazki of the Bombay High Court has been promoted as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court. Justice Nazki, who is due to retire on November 18, will assume the charge of Chief Justice's office in Cuttack on November 14. Born on November 18, 1947 in Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir, Justice Nazki obtained a law degree in 1973 from the Aligarh Muslim University. Having served as the advocate general of J&K, he was later appointed as a judge of the J&K High Court. He was transferred to the Andhra Pradesh High Court in 1997 and then to the Bombay High Court in January 2008. During his tenure in the Bombay High Court, Justice Nazki heard and decided a number of prominent cases including the Sion Hospital baby theft case and the appeal of child-abuse convicts Duncan Grant and Allan Waters.
