LeT Chief Ops commander among 5 killed in JK
Infiltration bid foiled at Handwara

Srinagar, October 4: Lashkar-e-Toiba Chief Operational Commander, 2 constables and a shopkeepers are among five people killed during last 24 hours in different militancy related incidents across the troubled Jammu & Kashmir state. Two police personnel and four civilians were also injured during a fidayeen attack at Akhada building Bushah Chowk Srinagar today
A group of three militants owing allegiance to Al-Mansoorein militant outfit attacked 131 BN CRPF camp at Akhada building at around 11.00 A.M. The militants hurled a grenade and resorted to indiscriminate firing. The CRPF foiled the fidayeen attack and launched a major offensive against the militants. Consequently the heavy exchange of fire between the militants and CRPF sleuths shook the whole Budshah Chowk area during which Sumo driver Ab Rashid Ganaie S/O Mohd Hayat R/O Kralpora Kupwara, Ehsan-u-Nabi S/O Gh Nabi R/O Groorah Bandipora and Manzoor Ahmed Sofi S/O Ali Mohd R/O Koker Bazar Srinagar were critically injured. The militants barged into Hotel standard later and continued firing indiscriminately firing and consequently hotel manager Ab Rashid Bhat S/O Gh Mohd R/O Baramulla was critically injured. The security forces cordoned off the whole area and Inspector General of Police (Kashmir Zone) S.M Sahai reached the trouble spot following which SOG sleuths after entering the hotel building rescued nine people and started a major offensive against the militants. The heavy exchange of fire between the militants and SOG men resulted in the king of two constables Showkat Ahmed and Raj Pal alias Jami, while as other two constables Javed Iqbal and Sandeep Kumar were critically injured. The second phase of operation was started around 3.00 P.M in the afternoon during which security forces entered the hotel rooms. Claiming the responsibility for the attack, Amir Ameer, spokesman of Al-Mansoorein outfit said that group of three militants which took part in the fidayeen attack were situationally forced to move into hotel Standard.
Two LeT militants identified as Abu Maaz alias Chima alias Muzamil , Chief Operation Commander of LeT, and Abu Qasim, LeT's Divisional Operational Commander were killed during an encounter with sleuths of police in Village Granwan near Ashmuqam in Anantnag district.
Meanwhile Handwara police claims to have foiled a major infiltration bid by apprehending a group of 10 youth from Dachaldara and other areas of Handwara, when they were on their way to cross to the other side of line of control (LoC) for getting arms training. The arrested youth are students falling in the age group of 16-20 years and they have been identified as Imran Rashid Dar S/O Ab Rashid, Mohd Saleem Khan S/O Ab Rashid Khan, Farooq Ahmed Gujri S/O Gh Rasool Gojri, Reyaz Ahmed Sheikh S/O Sonaullah Sheik , Bilal Ahmed Mir S/O Mohd Shafi Mir, Shabir Ahmed Bhat S/O Gh Nabi Bhat, Parvaiz Ahmed Mir S/O Late Mohd Maqbool Mir, Feroz Ahmed Gojri S/O late Ab Rahim Gojri, Shabir Ahmed Hajam S/O Ab Khaliq Hajam, Mohd Rafiq Hajam S/O Mohd Maqbool Hajam and Ishfaq Ahmed Pir S/O Mohd Amin Pir.
The king pin was, according to Handwara police, apprehended , when he was holding a meeting with his associates for pushing the youth to the other side of LoC. The boys were in full preparation and were carrying light luggages, medicines, night suits and religious literatures. One Imran Rashid Dar, a student of class XII enrolled at Higher Secondary School Handwara, who happens to be member of Jamat-e-Islami motivated these youths to get arms training.
