| Pallam Raju assures reactivation of Panth hospital | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 14- Pallam Raju, Union Minister of State for Defence today assured elected Corporators of Cantonment Board for reactivating the working of G B Panth Hospital at Satwari. Raju said that adequate measure would be taken after discussing the matter with the concerned authorities. Several delegations called on him during his one day tour to the winter capital. A delegation of Corporators in association with Member Parliament Madan Lal Sharma and Provincial President NC Rattan Lal Gupta submitted a memorandum to minister and discussed several issues threadbare. Memorandum stressed for handing over the G B Panth Hospital either to 166 Military Hospital or to state government for better functioning. Hospital is under shambles for the last couple of years due to non seriousness of successive Chief Executive Officers. Doctors, para-medical staff and medicines are not available in the hospital forcing people of the locality to wonder here and there even for minor problems, the memorandum alleged. They submitted that 35 bedded hospital constructed at the cost of Rs 50 lakh in 1988 was opened with the aim to provide services to locals, poor and needy but even having staff of more than 50 people the hospital is not capable to look after a single patient. Also in the year 1990 Ministry of Defence sanctioned Rs. 30 lakh to hospital authorities to purchase machinery and medicine required but as on today at the expiry of 20 years nothing positive has been done in the regard. Keeping the suffering of people and loss of hospital property, Corporators of the cantonment urged the minister to take the matter with authorities for early redressal. Minister assured that the matter will be solved as soon as possible, keeping in view the interests of the common people of the locality.
