| PTU- Softlab’s 2-day industrial visit concludes | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 15- The 2-day industrial visit at Baglihar Hydel Project organized by the Softlab, an authorized learning centre of Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar concluded today. Harbans Singh Director Administration and Gaurav Gupta Centre Director who accompanied the students expressed their views for organizing such kind of events. They said the aim of such industrial trip was to make the students aware of the present scenario and to know about the new projects being constructed for the promotion of their own state. They also thanked the Executive Engineer Sudhir Gupta of Baglihar Power Project for his tremendous support to make the trip a successful event. Baglihar Dam, also known as Baglihar Hydroelectric Power Project, is a run-of-the-river power project on the Chenab River in the southern Doda district of the state. This project was conceived in 1992, approved in 1996 and construction began in 1999. The installed capacity of the Stage-I of the project is 450 MW. This is more than the cumulative 309 MW generated in the State during the last 60 years. In the industrial trip students showed lot of interest and got extensive knowledge through the visit as how the electricity is actually generated through the power project and why electricity has got so such importance in our day-to-day life. After the hectic schedule of the Industrial Trip, students took a night stay at KUD where they also interacted among themselves regarding the project and shared their views with each other.
