| ‘Hamsafar’ staged in Natrang's in Sunday Theatre | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 15- Natrang staged new comedy ‘Hamsafar’ written by Kannad Rishi Bhatnagar and directed by Balwant Thakur here today in its weekly theatre show ‘Sunday Theatre’ The play creates a big caricature of the unwanted guests particularly in metros where people hardly have any space and resources to live comfortably. The theatre action begins with the entry of Sharma along with his family of nine to Verma’s house. Incidentally Verma had met Sharma once at Mathura Railway Station and had exchanged business cards. As a formality Verma had said that if Sharma happens to be in Delhi he may drop-in at his place. Taking full advantage of that offer, Sharma along with his family and other relations lands at Verma’s place in Delhi with the attention to stay for over a month and have extensive holiday joy tour of the city. The hosts loose their patience in order to meet the demands of the unwanted guests. They make many attempts to pull them out but nothing materializes. Finally Mrs Verma plays a trick. She advises the guests to deposit their cash with her as due to the growing incidents of thefts in Delhi they may not lose their hard earned money. This way the whole cash comes in their custody and when they ask for the money, Verma hands over a balance sheet showing the money consumed on their hospitality. Here the Sharma family cry for their money but in vein, they thus lost their money and their plan of free holiday in Delhi runs in troubled waters. The play ends with a lesson that never be an unwanted guest and a burden on others. Being co-passengers of this life journey, we need to bear our load ourselves only. In today’s performance Natrang introduced three new faces which included a husband wife pair Amit Sharma and Richa Sharma who played the real-life husband wife and Verma on stage. Rohit Verma was in his full acting strength in the role of Verma and was successful in creating funny situations. Romilla Besnet played as Mrs. Verma successfully.
