| Pok Refugees demand issuance of state subjects | | | Early Times Report
Jammu Nov 16: A meeting of all the displaced persons of district Mirpur, Poonch and Muzaffarabad was held today at Arya Samaj mandir Kotli Colony, Rehari under the Chairmanship of Yash Paul Gupta Mirpuri. During the meeting the members stressed for issuance state subjects to displaced people who have settled across the nation in post independence turmoil.
The members discussing the present problems of the displaced community deliberated mainly upon the issues of community that have never been considered properly and addressed even after a lapse of 62 years.
‘No compensation of their properties which was left behind has been paid so for, they said and added, “no benefit to the children of the community has ever been given in respect of reservations in the professional colleges and services which have never been given so far.’ Families from the POK who have been settled at various places in the country, outside the state of Jammu and Kashmir are yet to receive their State subject certificates, members pointed and demanded all such persons be issued state subject certificates, who have came from POK and necessary instructions should be issued to the respective Deputy Commissioners by the J&K government.
Demanding political representation, the participants said that as the govt. has kept 24 seats reserved for the areas of POK and thus a proportional number of seats should be got filled from the migrated persons from the POK.
It was resolved that vigourous efforts will be made to achieve the goal and if need be necessary peaceful agitation shall be launched to get the justice.
The prominent members who attended and spoke on the occasion are sarvshri Sardar Kulwant Singh, Ramesh Saberwal, Y.R. Gupta, Master Rames Gupta, Amar Chand Gupta, Sudesh Pal Gupta, Sushil Bali, R.C. Gupta and Smt. Krishna Gupta.
