| Pensioners stage protest rally, threaten hunger strike | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 16- J&K Pensioners Association today staged protest rally against the indifferent attitude adopted by the State Government to address the genuine demands of the State Pensioners and warned that in case their demands were not settled by December 6, 2009 the Pensioners shall sit on one day hunger strike on December 6 outside Divisional Commissioner’s Office. Led by Govind Ram Sharma, chairman of the association, pensioners wearing black badges proceeded in procession to the Office of the Divisional Commissioner here to press for their demands. They stated that SRO-94 of 2009 of April 15, 2009 was issued by the State Government to implement the recommendations of 6th Pay Commission in favour of its pensioners but deliberately and intentionally certain benefits granted by the Central Government to its pensioners were deleted from the said SRO by the State Government. Pensioners demanded that the arrears of the Revision of Pension wef January 1, 2006 to June 30,2009 be paid in one installment without further delay besides granting additional quantum of Pension in favour of the State Pensioners / Family Pensioners after attaining the age of 80,85,90,95,100 and above @ 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% and 100% on the analogy of Central Government Pensioners. They also demanded that Medical Allowance be enhanced from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1000 or in the alternative Re-imbursement Medical Scheme, as is applicable to the Central Government Pensioners, be sanctioned in favour of the State Pensioners, and also release of 6% DA arrears from January 1, 2009 and also release of 5% DA due from July 1, 2009. N.D Sharma, Jagdish Dogra, Ram Lal Sharma, S. Swaran Singh, S. Vakil Singh, O.P Gupta and K.L Basotra also addressed the rally.
