| Implement Mandal Commission report fully, demands NBP | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 16-The National Bahujan Party (NBP) today asked the Jammu and Kashmir Government to implement Mandal Commission report and grant 27 percent reservation to Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in the State. It warned to come on roads if this constitutional and genuine demand of the weaker section was not fulfilled. Talking to media person here today, NBP national president K K Manhotra pointed out that for the last 20 years OBCs in Jammu and Kashmir have been struggling to their constitutional rights but successive state governments have ignored this section of society. He demanded that Jats, Saini and Yogi Communities be included in the list of the OBCs and benefits of reservations should be made available for the economically weaker sections of the upper caste. He said reservations should also be given to the poor people irrespective of their castes. NBP president, who is on a 5-day tour of Jammu region, expressed grave concern over problems being faced by the residents of draught affected areas and extended his party’s support to the on going agitation of SRTC employees. He also demanded enhancement of salaries of Anganwari workers/homeguards and SPOs because these governments employees have not got any benefits of the Sixth Pay Commission. NBP national president also demanded lifting of ban on pre-paid mobile and asked the government to evolve a mechanism to protect interests of the poor customers as well as national security. He announced that his party would participate in the forthcoming civic bodies and Panchayat elections and also expressed satisfaction over improvement in law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir and appreciated steps taken by Omar Abdullah government to contain militancy.
