| Rs 1.6Crore IT penalty levies on Tax evaders | | |

Jammu, Nov 16: A team of Vigilance and Inspections Wing of Commercial Taxes Department, Jammu Division conducted a surprise inspection of Commercial vehicles along National Highway and seized vehicles along with goods for suspected under valuation and concealment of goods and imposed penalty of Rs 1.62 lakh to Tax evaders.
Official spokesperson said that an enforcement team under the supervision of Shamsher Bahadur Dy Commissioner Commercial Taxes (Vigilance & Inspection) Jammu conducted surprise check.
‘A team of Vigilance and Inspections Wing of Commercial Taxes Department, Jammu Division comprising of Commercial Taxes Officer Satpal Singh Jamwal and subordinate staff conducted a surprise inspection of Commercial vehicles along National Highway and seized vehicles along with goods (Hosiery, Readymade, Hardware, Motor parts etc) for suspected under valuation and concealment of goods, he said.
‘The vehicles seized were put to physical check and penalty to the tune of Rs. 1,62,867.00 (Rupees One Lakh Sixty Two Thousand Eight Hundred Sixty Seven Only) was levied and recovered on spot from the offenders under the different provisions of J&K VAT Act 2005.
