Early Times Report

Jammu Nov 17: To safeguard the interests of Scheduled Castes across the country and seek their progress and social advancement, Anusuchit Jaati Aarakshan Bachao Manch organized 1-day public functions across the country, including one at Geeta Bhawan, Jammu, followed by press conference there.

Addressing the press conference, senior SC leader Bali Bhagat alongwith state Convenor of the Manch Surinder Bhagat and Member Balbir Ram, said that there is conspiracy being hatched by the Congress-led UPA government and other regional political outfits who are out to barter down and dilute the beneficent constitutional provision of reservation for the SCs for their narrow and vote-garnering politics.

He said that the reservation for the SCs was envisaged by the visionary and farsighted framers of the constitution to undo the historical wrong having being perpetuated on SCs in the Hindu society.

The present day political opportunist viz the Congress the Samajwadi party, BSP, RJD and others are seeking to extend these benefits meant for SCs to Christians and Muslims also under the pretext that they were once members of community before their conversion.

In Christians and Muslims, the concepts of untouchability and inferiority of the man on the basis of the birth does not exist and hence extending the benefits of reservation to them is not warranted and justified.

He declared that the manch will launch country-wide programmes from November 26 this month to January 26, 2010 in order to educated the members of the SC community about the opportunist and nefarious designs of these political forces led by Congress by organizing rallies, dharnas, workshops, protests and submitting memorandums.
