Early Times Report
Jammu Nov 17: The Prime Minister ,Manmohan Singh's over Rs.1600-crore package for rehabilitation and return of Kashmiri migrants was not meant only for valley based Pandits who fled Kashmir in 1990 following the rise of militancy but is for the all those who had faced exile after the emergence of turmoil.
Explaining it the Revenue and Relief Minister, Raman Bhalla, today said that the Prime Minister's package was meant for all those Pandits, Sikhs and Muslims who had migrated from the valley in 1990 and afterwards.
He said that an erroneous impression had gone round that the package was meant for the rehabilitation and return of the Kashmiri Pandits only and recently some organizations has demanded package on the similar tunes. He said that those Muslims and Sikhs who had migrated from Kashmir and had been registered with the Relief Commission were entitled to seek the benefits of the Prime Minister's package.
Bhalla said that another wrong impression had been allowed to gain currency which pertained to the relief to refugees from Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir. He said the Prime Minister's over Rs.1600 crores were not being utilized on the relief and rehabilitation of the refugees from Pakistan and occupied Kashmir. He said that it was a separate package that was being framed for this section of refugees. He said the state Government has suggested to the centre to release funds for finalizing one-time settlement of the claims of the refugees from Pakistan and occupied Kashmir.
Bhalla also said that the Government policy on return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants was transparent and hence there was no scope for confusion. He said that necessary rules were to be formulated for reserving Government posts for the Kashmiri migrants. |
