| PDP created space for Kashmir’s political solution: Karra | | |
Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 17: Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and former Finance Minister Tariq Hameed Karra today said the PDP has created a space for the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue by piloting an achievable resolution formula.
Addressing PDP workers convention in Khansahib constituency o district Budgam today, Karra said the PDP leadership has been unequivocally speaking about the inevitability of resolving the Kashmir issue peacefully at various forums, both within and outside the State.
“PDP strongly believes that any solution to the Kashmir problem can only be found through democratic and political means involving engagement and dialogue,” he said and added that the party’s Self Rule agenda offers the most pragmatic and viable solution to the Kashmir issue.
Laying the State Government for having failed to keep its pre-poll commitments with the people, Karra said the only ‘tangible achievement’ of the present Government, till now, is institutionalization of corruption. “The menace of corruption is assuming alarming proportions and as per my information crores of rupees have changed hands in recent transfers and postings in various departments,” he said and added that there is absolutely no accountability in the Government and everybody is running his own shop to mint as much money as possible.
Karra said the Government has failed to even deliver on its commitment of providing ‘Sadak, Paani, Bijli and Rozgar’, a slogan on which it took votes from the people. “The appalling condition of power and water supply belies the Government’s claims and hollow performance,” he said.
Karra said while lot of hype is being created around the employment package to be announced by the Government on December 5, he has the information it would be just a re-packaging of the self employment scheme under which Rs 3 to 5 lakh would be provided to the unemployed youth or setting up employment generating units. “No unit can be today set up with Rs 3 or Rs 5 lakh and if the Government wants the scheme to be fruitful, it should provide minimum Rs 15 lakh to each educated unemployed youth for self employment ventures,” he said.
PDP leaders Javaid Mustafa Mir, Dr Shafi, Aga Syed Mehmood and Saif-ud-Din Bhat also addressed the meeting. |
