| First Lady spends day with underprivileged children | | | Early Times Report Jammu November 18- Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Welfare Society, Jammu today celebrated Childrens Day in the premises of V.K. Sarvodaya School Rajiv Nagar here. Usha Vohra, First Lady of the State, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, highly appreciated efforts of the Society for serving the society with dedication. She presented Rs. 50,000/- to the Society on behalf of the Governor. On the occasion, a colorful variety programme was presented by the children. The Cultural programme consisting of two skits” Beti Ahihai hai” depicting problems of girl child and the other play “Panchayat” highlighting the importance of grass root level democratic institutions was also organized. Rahul, a student of the school spoke on the life and work of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and his love for children. ‘Larki ki Kathi’ an action song presented by Creche Children and the Dogri dances were highly lauded by the audience.. The Special Guest Mr. A Bera of G.A.I.L India limited presented a cheque of Rs. 1.45 lakh, as first installment for purchase of 10 computers, assuring all possible help to the Society in future. Dr. Vaid Kumari Ghai, President V.K.W.S while welcoming the Chief Guest and others said that about 10,000 people have been benefited during the past 25 years. Sneh Chopra Working President of the Society thanked the guests, media, Power Department, Information for their cooperation.
