| Shantmanu to receive IPVM award for J&K | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 18: The Commissioner Secretary to government, Forest Department, Shantmanu will receive Indira Priyadarshini Vriksha Mitra Award for 2008 which has been conferred upon Jammu and Kashmir in recognition of state’s efforts to preserve and enhance the green cover. Jammu and Kashmir State has been selected as First Winner of the prestigious Indira Priyadarshini Vriksha Mitra (IPVM) Award for 2008. The Award is being presented at a formal award ceremony on November 19, in New Delhi. Commissioner-Secretary, Forest Department, Mr. Shantmanu, would receive this prestigious award on behalf of the State Government. The award has been given in recognition of the efforts of the State Government for increasing the forest and plantation cover through Directorate of Social Forestry. The Union Ministry of Environment and Forests has been giving Indira Priyadarshini Vriksha Mitra (IPVM) Awards since 1985, under various categories, for outstanding achievements in the field of afforestation and wastelands development.
