| Dedicate in achieving optimum results on ground: Jugal to officers | | | UDHAMPUR, OCTOBER 04 -Minister for Rural Development and Panchyati Raj, Mr. Jugal Kishore Sharma has called upon the officers of his department and other departments associated with the execution of developmental works in rural areas to dedicate themselves in achieving optimum results on the ground both quantitatively and qualitatively thereby leaving no scope of any complaint from any corner. The Minister was addressing a meeting of District Officers of Rural Development Department, PHE. PWD, ICDS and Social Welfare convened to review the status of various on-going projects of their respective departments, here today. MLA Udhampur, Mr. Balwant Singh Mankotia, District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. O. P. Kalandria, Additional Secretary, Rural Development, Director, Rural Development, Director, Rural Sanitation, Additional DDC, Udhampur, Mr. Khurshid Ahmed Bhat, Assistant Commissioner Development, Mr. Anil Gupta, Executive Engineer PWD, PHE, Project Officer DPAP, Assistant Project Director, DRDA, Chief Agriculture Officer, Programme Officer, ICDS and District Social Welfare Officer were also present in the meeting. The Minister said that Rural Development Department has to play a pivotal role in socio-economic transformation of rural areas by initiating various development works. He said Block Development Officers of the department have to shoulder major responsibilities in execution of developmental activities at the doorsteps of the rural masses. For the purpose, he instructed the BDOs and other field functionaries of the department to be present at the places of postings so that people may not suffer in getting their problems redressed on the spot. He said functionaries of Rural Development Department should take into confidence the local elected representatives into confidence while formulating the cases under Indira Awas Yojna (IAY) and Sampoorn Gramin Rozgar Yojna (SGRY) so that benefits percolate to maximum deserving people. Mr. Jugal Kishore emphasized the need to hold monthly meetings for the awareness of the common masses for availing loan assistance under various state and centrally sponsored schemes especially designed to raise the economic status of the rural masses. For the purpose, he categorically instructed the BDOs to submit a progress report on monthly basis showing the reason of rejecting sponsored cases by banks by various agencies. Responding to the demand of local MLA for providing drinking water, power supply and road connectivity to the model villages, the Minister directed the officers to fix priorities in accomplishment of this demand. Threadbare discussions were also held on status of works executed or under execution by the agencies like DPAP, DRADA, ICDS, Social Welfare, PHE, Rural Sanitation and Roads and Bridges. Complimenting the Minister for his maiden meeting after being inducted as Cabinet Minister, MLA Udhampur, Mr. Mankotia said that some of the Model Villages in the district require immediate attention regarding water and power supply and road connectivity on priority basis. He demanded that developmental schemes of other departments would be given due care for model villages for their speedy development. Earlier, while giving the resume of the activities initiated by the Rural Development Department in the district, the DDC invited the attention of the Minister on the various issues for the smooth functioning of the department which include release of funds for clearance of liabilities, insufficient vehicles at the disposal of the department, shortage of staff etc. |
