ET Jammu, Nov 18 : Setting another milestone, the Army has started a 70-day-long 'Dairy Entrepreneurship Course' for the unemployed youths of border areas in militancy-torn Jammu and Kashmir. The project is being undertaken under `Operation Sadbhavana’ by Rajouri-based 25 Infantry Division of the Army with an active cooperation of the Animal Husbandry Department of the state. ‘’Under the programme, which began today, 25 youth have been nominated from distant villages of Rajouri district, which included Chambitrar, Rehan, Dalogra, Muradhpur, Dagn, Gambhir Brahmana, Kewal, Kote Dhara, Mithi Dhara, Dehri, Mangal Nad, Karana, Lam, Rajuva and Makri,’’ Defence Ministry spokesman Lt Col Biplab Nath said. Animal Husbandry is the life line for rural population in our country, it provides immense opportunities for self-employment with minimum risk and maximum gains if done scientifically. The course, Lt Col Nath said, will help in providing self-employment to the unemployed youth at their doorsteps. After the formal inauguration of the course, the Commandant of a one Advance Field Veterinary Hospital, apprised the participants about the importance and utility of the course in setting up their own dairy units on modern lines under self-employment scheme. During the course, participants will be imparted theoretical and practical training in dairy farming by the Army and civil experts. ‘’They will also be taken to various Military and civil farms for practical demonstration,’’ Lt Col Nath said, adding that the course will be authenticated by the state's Animal Husbandry Department which will help the successful candidates in getting subsidised loans from banks.
