| NC trying to sabotage dialogue process: PDP | | | Early Times Report Srinagar Nov18- Blaming the state government for deliberately trying to derail the dialogue effort even before it had taken off, senior Peoples Democratic Party leader Tariq Hamid Karra has said the renewed dialogue process could provide the much needed space for the battle of ideas the PDP always pleaded for. Referring to repeated arrest of Sighed Ali Geelani and some other leaders and activists by the police senior PDP leader said there was no logic in such action as there was no breach of peace anywhere as a result of their political activity. He said it seems the state government was unnerved by the central government’s offer of inclusive talks to find a lasting solution to Kashmir problem. He was speaking at one day convention of party workers at Chatergam Chadoora. Karra said the government seemed to be scared to enter a civilized debate on issues and had resorted unabashedly to strong arm methods. He reiterated the party view that the dialogue could be fruitful only if all the parties were involved in it. But the conduct of the state government shows clearly how the efforts to include every one were being sabotaged by playing hide and seek with Geelani. This, he said could in no way help build an atmosphere of trust necessary for the dialogue process to prove successful. Recalling the failure of earlier efforts, Karra said the NC government had subverted the process in 2001 also when the dialogue started by the centre with the Hizbul Mujahideen was opposed by Dr. Farooq Abdullah as a “conspiracy against NC”. He said even the then DGP of the state had publicly refused to honour the ceasefire announced to facilitate the dialogue.
