Six Pakistani prisoners shifted from Kot Bhalwal Jail
More shifts likely to follow in coming days
7/21/2006 11:03:52 PM
Jammu:
Six hard core Pakistani prisoners lodged in highly fortified Kot Bhalwal Jail were shifted and sent to other jails of the country for putting an end to the clashes inside the jail between Pakistani prisoners and local prisoners. And some more shifting are likely to be happen within next few days. Kot Bhalwal Jail was recently in news for deadly clashes between local and Pakistani prisoners.
According to reports, the six Pakistani prisoners who were shifted to different jails have been identified as Sayed ullah, Mohd Shehzad, Khurshid Ahmed, Mohd Anwar, Rihal Ahmed and Mohd Farooq. All these were arrested by security forces in different parts of the state in anti-militant operations. They were shifted to the fortified prisons of Agra, Sangroor and Tihar. Sources said that all these were lodged in Pakistani Block at Kot Balwal jail and today a high security team reached the jail and shifted them to different prisons of the country under tight security arrangements. Sources also said that this step was taken after the deadly clashes between the jail inmates some days ago in which some Kashmiri prisoners received serious injuries.
The man who gives air to the clash was Sayed Ullah, a Pakistani prisoner who irked Kashmiri prisoners by forcing them to learn the lessons of Jehad. After the clash, a meeting of senior officers was convened to investigate the reasons behind the clash. It was decided in the meeting to shift some of the prisoners to other jails to prevent such clashes in the future. Jail management prepared a list of prisoners after getting approval from higher authorities and shifted them today.
It is to be mentioned that some days back, Pakistani and Kashmiri prisoners clashed with each other resulting into the serious injuries to many of them. The reason behind clash is the forcible preaching of Jihad by Pakistani prisoners to Kashmiri Prisoners. Sources said that about 550 prisoners are lodged in Kot Bhalwal jail in which Kashmiri prisoners are in majority. Kashmiri militants even criticize Pakistani militants for killing innocent people on the name of ‘Jehad’, which is also considered to be one of the reasons behind the clash.
According to Jail management it was necessary to separate these prisoners from the other ones. Shifting of some more prisoners is also likely to be happening, as this was the only possible solution to prevent further clashes.
