| Tarigami concerned over deteriorated power supply in valley | | | Early Times Report Srinagar Nov 19 Expressing deep anguish over the erratic power supply in the state, especially in the valley, CPI(M) State Secretary and MLA Kulgam has urged the government to come out with a comprehensive and well evolved power supply policy to coup up the situation caused by unscheduled power cuts during the ongoing winters in valley. In a statement issued here today, Tarigami alleged that the people of the State were being taken for granted for providing basic amenities of which electricity was an important component. MLA Kulgam said that despite huge water resources and capacity for power generation the same were not being explored to achieve self sufficiency in power sector. He said that it was astonishing that funds under centrally sponsored schemes, like Ragiv Gandhi Gramin Vidutakaran Yogna (RGVY) were not being spent properly to provide electricity to un electrified habitats. Tarigami asked the government to prepare a policy, which ensures reforms in power generation, its transmission and distribution process. He said that transformers and distribution system in rural areas was in a dilapidated condition and asked for establishing divisional and district level workshops for repairing of damaged transformers
