| NHDC launches health insurance scheme for weavers | | | Early Times Report Kathua, Nov 19- The National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC) has launched health insurance scheme for the welfare of weavers for which they shall have to pay Rs. 50 per year. Under the scheme the weavers would get Rs, 15,000 for any health related problem. This was stated by Director Handloom, Chandra Gupta while inaugurating an awareness camp organized by National Handloom Development Corporation in the premises of Janj Ghar Basohli. On this occasion she imparted knowledge of various handlooms developmental and commercial Government sponsored schemes through Handloom development department. She urged the weavers to get the benefit of these schemes. For the bright future she stressed to frame and register the societies and self help groups to get the maximum benefit from government sponsored schemes. For promotion of handloom mark she stressed all people who deal in Pashmina industry to use the mark for the prevention of delicacy of pashmina shawls. While addressing the gathering President Municipal Council, Basohli, Sunil Soni told that due to lack of marketing of pashmina Shawls, the Basohli Pashimina Shawl industry is in crisis. He demanded help from the government in marketing of pashmina Shawls besides opening a raw Pashimna Sale Depot at Basohli. Later Director Handloom also listened to the problems being faced by the weavers and assured the weavers that their genuine problems will be solved. Chief General Manager, NHDC, S.H. Ansari, Deputy Director HDC, Mohd Mumtaz Ali, Assistant Director HDC, S.C. Gupta, Chief Designer, NHDC, Permila Panday, employees of HDC, prominent citizens and large number of weavers were present on the occasion.
