| PCC pays glowing tributes to Indira Gandhi | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, NOV 19 – Like other parts of the country, the National Integration Week coinciding with the 92nd birth anniversary of Former Prime Minister of India, late Mrs. Indira Gandhi, also took off in the state. In this connection, a state level function, to pay homage to late Indira Gandhi was organised at R. S. Pura, Jammu which was presided over by PCC President Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, Mr. Saif-ud-Din Soz. A large number of the people attended the function, which was organized by the Minister for Medical Education, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Mr. R.S. Chib. The Deputy Chairman, J&K Legislative Council, S. Arvinder Singh Micky, Minister for PHE, Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Minister for Revenue, Mr. Raman Bhalla, Congress MP, Legislator and senior leaders addressed those gathered at the function. Mr. Soz in his tribute described Mrs. Indira Gandhi a dynamic personality who with great enthusiasm led the nation on the course of progress, prosperity and scientific and technological advancement raising its place, status and position in the world. He said that best way to pay tribute to the great leader is through striving to realise her dream of making India the most advanced and developed country of the world. Mr. Soz said Indiraji was a great statesman and Parliamentarian who tirelessly worked for the development of the nation on all fronts and sacrificed the last drop of her blood for upholding its sovereignty and integrity. Deputy Chairman S. Arvinder Singh Micky while paying homage to Mrs. Gandhi said, she strengthened secularism and was instrumental in bringing neighbouring countries close to India and strengthening the friendly ties among them. Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din described Mrs. Indira Gandhi as a courageous and visionary leader. Mr. R. S. Chib while welcoming the congress leaders and general public for their participation in the function also paid rich tributes to late Prime Minister and highlighted her contribution in eradication of poverty and illiteracy from the country.
Mr. Raman Bhalla on this occasion, impressed upon Congress workers to remain united and vigilant about nefarious designs of anti-national elements. Describing the late Indiraji as an architect of modern India, Mr. Bhalla said that she was instrumental in nationalising banks and launching mega projects in power, agriculture, railways, and other vital sectors.
