Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 20: To sensitize the general public about the importance and preservation of rich cultural heritage, the department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums, Jammu is celebrating World Heritage Week from 18th November, 2009. The Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums, Jammu has informed that during the week long celebrations, there will be free entry for students in Dogra Art Museum and Mubarak Mandi. Public will be provided free expert guide service in the Museum during the period. The special exhibits will be on display in Dogra Art Museum included world famous miniatures paintings of Jammu, Basohli and Kangra schools, Terracotta heads from famous Kushan site, Ambaran Akhnoor Jammu, weaponry of Dogra rulers, ethnic jewellery and dresses, royal bow of Mughal emperor Shah Jehan, numismatic collections from Kushan period and onwards, historical documents w.e.f. 1724 A.D and Takri inscription on stone plate (recovered recently). According to Deputy Director, Archives, Archaeology and Museums, Jammu, special invitations have been sent to colleges and schools to visit Dogra Art Museum Jammu during the week long celebrations so that students are acquainted with the rich cultural heritage and the need for its preservation.
