| Entrepreneurship Development Workshop organised | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 20: The J&K SC, ST & Backward Classes Development Corporation has, since its inception in 1996, disbursed Rs. 97 crores among about 27 thousand beneficiaries which includes Rs. 13 crores as subsidy and Rs. 46 crores as loans. This was stated at a day-long Entrepreneurship Development Workshop organised by the Corporation here today sponsoring National Handicapped Finance & Development Corporation (NHFDC). Mr. Ravi Kanth, Chairman & Managing Director of the Corporation inaugurated the workshop, aimed at upgrading the knowledge skill of officers and officials dealing with welfare schemes for the underprivileged sections of the society and to sensitise members of these weaker sections about the schemes and programmes of the State and Central Governments meant for their upliftment. Mr. Kanth advised the officers attending the workshop to ensure maximum credit to the members of these communities and also optimum utilisation of funds available under different such schemes. On the objectives of NFHD, Mr. Kanth said the Corporation has been striving for economic empowerment of disabled persons through its several programmes. He asked the officers to work for target groups particularly persons with disabilities with greater zeal and without losing time. He assured that his corporation would provide all possible help in financing soft loans to members of these sections for setting up income generating units. In his presidential address, Managing Director, J&K SC, ST & Backward Classes Development Corporation, Mr. R.K. Bhagat highlighted the achievements of the Corporation and goals for the coming times. Present on the occasion were, MD, J&K Women’s Development Corporation, Dr. Naheed Soz, Secretary, J&K SC, ST & Backward Classes Development Corporation, Mrs. Shahzada Bukhari and other officers of the corporation. On the occasion, Mr. Kanth also handed over selection letters to 20 candidates of weaker sections for undergoing computer training.
