| All India Hindi Writers’ conference inaugurated | | | Early Times Report Jammu Nov 20: The J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today organised a two day All India Hindi Writers’ conference at Abhinav Theatre wherein celebrated Hindi writers from across India took part. The conference was presided over by noted litterateur Dr. Ved Kumari Ghai while Deputy Chairman State Legislative Council Arvinder Singh Micky was the chief guest and Prof. Avdesh Pradash HOD Hindi at Benares University was the special guest. To start with Dr. Ghai in her presidential address expressed that Hindi had played an important role for the development of literature in India. Congratulating the Cultural Academy she hoped that such type of programmes would be organised in future also so that new generation could be benefited. Commenting on democratic institutions, Dr. Ghai said that although democracy was good, those who got elected all of them might not necessarily be good. “That is why for having proper checks and balances the onus lies on the shoulders of litterateurs and intellectuals, whose job it is to reform society and social institutions,” she said. The special guest, Prof. Avdesh Prodhan also spoke on the occasion while the chief guest Arvinder Singh Micky lit the lamp to formally inaugurate the conference. While delivering the keynote address Prof. Avdesh Pradhan laid stress on inculcating the spirit of research and exploration and presented a thorough review of Hindi literature with special emphasis on historical perspective. “Hindi literature is very rich and we all must try to explore it for self purification,” he said. Applauding Hindi literature Prof. Pradhan said that tragedies had enriched it over the centuries. “Had Ram not been forced to go to the jungles, he would not have been as popular as he is today. It is all because of tragedy,” Pradhan said. Earlier Secretary Academy, Zaffar Iqbal Manhas presented the welcome address and threw light on the importance of organising such conferences and said that Hindi was an important language and had a major role to play in our country. The programme was conducted by Neeru Sharma, editor Hindi while Additional Secretary Cultural Academy, Savita Bakshi presented the vote of thanks. Besides large number of local intellectuals, literary personalities and students, the conference was attended by several noted literary figures from outside state like Basant Tripathi of Nagpur University, Virender Astik, Rekha Vyas and Nirmal Putul among others.
