| Disperse scholarships before Dec 10 or face protests, warns Haq Nawaz | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 20: All J&K ST/SC Students Federation has strongly condemned the attitude of State Government towards ST students in every aspect of life. Addressing media persons here today, Haq Nawaz Choudhary President of the Federation said that despite assurance by the Director Tribal Affairs Department to publish a schedule before November 18 yet no such schedule has been made yet by the Director Tribal for the Jammu province Colleges and schools and students are still without scholarship. Federation warned if scholarship among all colleges and schools is not dispersed among students before December 10, 2009, they shall hold the protest Dharna in front of Governor House and will go on hunger strike. Choudhary said much of the schemes are still pending and condition of Director Tribal is that he could not even disperse scholarships among students in complete one year,. He demanded shifting of Tribal Affairs Department near city as it is located about 15 km away from city and the students even could not locate the department. He demanded the state government should provide hostel facilities to ST and SC students so that students from 12th to post graduate could be accommodated, as students are suffering much. Federation appealed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Social Welfare Minister Sakina Ittoo to personally intervene into the matter and sort out the these problems. Those present at the press conference were Sajjad, Farooq. Muzafar, Shahjahan, Namgial, Sabar, Stenzine and Arif.
