| NMC asks FC for special funds for employees | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 21: President of the National Mazdoor Conference, Subash Shastri has urged upon the chairman of the 13th finance commission to make a special provision of Rs 8000 crore in its award for J&K in extending full benefit of 6th pay commission to the state government employees in one go.
As per press release in a memorandum sent to Dr. Vijay Kelkar, Shastri has said that the award is scheduled to be awarded by December 31, 2009 should have this provision so as to enable the state government to fulfill it commitment with regards to payment of pay revision arrears and other benefits as per the 6th pay commission recommendations. Shastri said that fully endorsing the demands projected by the state government before the 13th finance commission during its visit to the state.
Shastri also suggested that a uniform mechanism should be evolved by the finance commission as well as the planning commission to provide additional funds to resource deficit states including J&K state to meet additional financial requirement necessitated due to pay hike, release of DA installment. He said NMC had submitted a detailed memorandum to this effect during the visit of the commission to Jammu.
