National Integration Week celebrations

Udhampur, Nov 21- National Integration Week celebrations organized by NSS Wing of Shivalik College of Education concluded today with a cultural program and prize distribution function. The week long program was organized in collaboration with the office of Program Coordinator NSS, University of Jammu.

Dr Jasbir Singh, program coordinator NSS, University of Jammu was the chief guest while Prof. (Dr) Vishwa Raksha, was the Guest of Honour.

NSS volunteers presented “Des Rangeela”, Skit based on National Integration and classical dances.

While speaking on the occasion Dr Jasbir Singh appreciated the role of Shivalik College in promoting NSS program by celebrating national integration week in Udhampur.

He highlighted the role of youth in nation building and emphasized that the welfare of the individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society and NSS played an important role in making the society better. He appealed the youth to work for strengthening national and emotional integration for building a stronger country .He congratulated the NSS Volunteers for their selfless services and quoted Mahatma Gandhi as an icon of “Karamyoga” and also shared her experiences as a NSS Program officer and as a volunteer

During the week long celebrations the NSS trainees put up several national building and communal harmony activities. The trainees in their 20 groups took part in several events which included poster making, signature campaign to promote communal harmony, emotional and National Integration, essay writing and group songs.

In the meantime the Government Middle School Mana celebrated National Integration Week by taking out a rally.

Large number of students of the school carrying placards with slogans on National Integration, Patriotism, religious harmony, social equality and importance of literacy took part in the rally. The rally starting from the school premises culminated at the school after passing through Mana, Nanowalia and Hansa villages.

Later, a Hasya Kavi Samelan was organized in the premises of Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Collage of Education where in renowned poets of different languages from District Kathua as well as from Jammu, Udhampur and Punjab recited their poems to the delight of the audience. The program was presided over by BDO Chand Kishor while Retd S.P Sardar Khan was the Chief Guest, Sohan Lal and Dr. A.K Malhotra was the guest of honour.
