| Katra citizens remind CM of decision, warn protests against land authorities | | | Early Times Report Katra, Nov 22: The Katra Development Centre Committee (KDCC) in a meeting chaired by its president Sher Singh discussed upon the prominent action plan to be taken by the KDCC in wake of alleged issuance of notification under section 4 of J&K land acquisition act for acquisition of land for the construction of new bus stand at Katra. As per press release the chief minister in the district development board meeting held at Jammu on 2nd October 2009 emphasized for “redrafting and reviewing” of entire master plan meant for Katra town including reviewing and up gradation of existing bus stand at Katra, but to the utter dismay of general public and in complete derogation to the instruction of the chief minister, the persons, the local administration, revenue officials, sitting at the helm of the affairs and in direct league with land grabbers of the area have managed to redraft and review the entire master plan in a most mechanical and corrupt manner and that too surprisingly with in a period of less than one and a half month and have further managed to get the notification under section 4 issued without following the procedure laid in this behalf and without identifying the nature of land and without ascertaining as to whether the land under proposal being orchard could legally be notified under section 4. Even the environmental aspects and other pollution related aspects were completely ignored. The record of the land under proposal has been manipulated. The proposed acquisition on the very face of it seems to be stage managed and tailor made with a view to accommodate some blue eyed persons. The proposed acquisition and notification has been issued without obtaining the requisite NOC from the concerned MLA even from the concern departments including the pollution department and environment department. Even the consent of the KDA has not been taken and there has never been any meeting of KDA held in this behalf. The committee decided to have recourse to legal remedies as well as other remedies including protest dharnas at Katra and enroute Bhawan, bhands, closure of all business establishments so that the people and pilgrims get to know about the real corrupt state of affairs visiting the whole acquisition proceedings. The committee in this regard has decided to conduct a protest bland at Katra town. Advocates Kuldeep Dubey and Suneel Sharma also attend the meeting. |
