Shabir crisscrosses hilly areas of Rajouri, listens to public woes

JAMMU, NOV 22: The Minister of State for Power, Forest, Transport and CA&PD, Shabir Ahmed Khan said that Government has taken necessary initiatives to upgrade the basic amenities of the people of the State, especially of those living in hilly and remote areas. He said Rs.17 Crore would be utilized for upgradation of power scenario in Rajouri district under RGGY adding that village Kalili near Peerkaleba in Block Munjkote would be electrified this year by expending Rs. 10 lakh.
The Minister who is on four days tour of district Rajouri, to take stock of the people’s problems, today visited various hilly areas by foot and addressed a series of public meetings besides convened officers meeting to review the pace of ongoing developmental works in these areas.
Addressing a public meeting at Kalili, Munjakote, the Minister said that all the un-connected habitations and hamlets of the area would be connected under better road connectivity to ensure development of the area. He said 30 new road projects at a total cost of Rs.45 crore would be constructed under PMGSY phase-VII in Rajouri constituency.
Mr. Shabir said that focused attention is being given for upgrading the education, healthcare and drinking water facilities in far off and hilly areas of the State, adding that number innovative and reformative initiatives have been taken with the liberal financial assistance of Center to mitigate problems of these areas.
He said in order to tackle with un-employment problem, the State Government has set up J&K State oversea employment corporation with authorized share capital of Rs. 1 crore to facilitate educated and skilled youth to seek employment out side the country. He said the Government has also launched various welfare scheme for the welfare of weaker sections and called upon them to come forward and take personal interest in these schemes. The Minister directed concerned officers to organize awareness camps at village level to educate the people about various welfare schemes so that the benefits of these would percolate to gross root level.
The Minister said that State is fast emerging as a favourite tourism hub on the world map adding that various areas of Rajouri are being brought under the tourism map also. He said that Rs.20 crore are being expended for creating tourism infrastructure in the district.
The Minister exhorted upon the officers to work with missionary sprit and dedication for the upliftment of the people.
Mr. Shabir Khan instructed the concerned authorities that the survey of BPL families should be completed well in time so that all deserving families would be enlisted on ration cards.
