| PAC discusses flood control measures | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 23: The Public Accounts Committee of the Legislative Assembly and Council headed by BJP MLA Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has stressed for formulation of a comprehensive policy on release of funds to the Flood Control department for protection of flood channels. The Committee which met in the Legislative Assembly Complex today directed the officers of Flood Control Department to take all measures for protection of flood channels by executing all works in such areas where no works are undertaken. The Committee stressed for formulation of comprehensive policy with regard to release of funds. The Committee met under the Chairmanship of Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, MLA at Legislative Assembly Complex, here today. The Committee held threadbare discussions on CAG’s Report 2006-07 regarding defective planning in the Irrigation Division Akhnoor for reclamation of land and decided to visit the spot. The Committee also decided that a joint meeting with the officers of Planning and Finance Departments would be convened to discuss the problems and difficulties faced by the executing agencies in their respective fields. The Chairman stressed upon the officers to work with dedication and complete all ongoing works. Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, Dr. Shafi Ahmad Wani, Mr. Rachpal Singh, Mr. Abdul Majid Wani, Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil, Mr. Murtaza Ahmad Khan, legislators, Secretary, Mr. M. Ramzan, Principal Accountant General, J&K, Mr. D. J. Bhadra, Director General, Accounts and Treasuries, Mr. Wali Mohammad Batt, senior officers of Flood Control and Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
