| Over 1000 flats for KPs almost ready at Jagti | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 23: Over 1000 flats out of proposed 4224 flats for Kashmiri Pandit migrants at Jagti Mini Township, near here, are likely to be ready by the end of this year. The township is coming up as first of its kind in the State and the Government has already constructed a road and bridge from Jagti to Nagrota at a cost of Rs. 5.06 crore to ensure the connectivity of the colony to main highway. This information was given out in a meeting chaired by Revenue Minister Raman Bhalla to review the status of work of upcoming mini-township for Kashmiri migrants at Jagti. Minister of State for Revenue Nasir Aslam Wani said Chief Secretary SS Kapur, Finance Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey and Revenue Secretary Ejaz Iqbal attended the meeting among others. The township, comprising 4224 flats in 176 blocks spread over 716 kanals of land, is being constructed at a cost of Rs. 294 crore. Each 3-storey block will have 24 flats. He said the covered area of each flat will be of 495 sfts. He said around 43 blocks would be fully completed besides the work on 40 more speeded up by the end of this year. Minister the executing agency to complete the ongoing project within stipulated time frame. He issued instructions for preparation of rehabilitation plan of migrants for improving the living conditions in the camps by way of providing better accommodation and other infrastructure facilities, including internal roads, water supply, sewerage disposal, internal and external electrification, educational institutes, community and health centres. To ensure desired results in implementation of the Prime Minister Rehabilitation Package for Kashmiri Migrants (KMs), the Minister said that the Central and State Governments are closely monitoring the development works of upcoming KMs township. He said that the Coalition Government led, by Chief Minister Mr. Omar Abdullah is serious to ensure their return to valley besides protecting and retrieval of their property as provided under special package. He said that the project will be completed on modern lines adding that the colony will not only have all the basic facilities but care will be taken to other necessary aspects and requirements of the migrants.
