| Asha –a hope for many in Kargil | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur Nov 23: Asha School, Kargil is a charitable institute being run by the Army in the remote border district of Kargil. Established on 14 June 2001 this school provides rehabilitation to physically and mentally challenged children between the age group of three to fifteen years, defence spokesperson said.
According to defence spokesperson fourteen years old Jahir Ghulam Mohd, s/o Hazi Mohd Hussian, resident of Poyen village is one such child enrolled into the institute. ‘When he joined the institute, he was speech disabled and mentally challenged, he said. ‘Ms Hamida Bano, a teacher in this school narrated the story of Master Ghulam Mohd. Ghulam Mohd joined the institute on 18 June 2001 who initially mentally challenged and could utter a word but now due to intensive speech therapy he can understand a few words and speak them too, the spokesperson added.
‘His parents are very glad and thankful to the institute and the Army for all the assistance and guidance extended to their child, he said.
Hazi Mohd Hussain, Father of Ghulam Mohd, expressing gratitude towards the ASha that has given a ray of hope for his child simply recalled that Ghulam was born dumb and mentally challenged but ‘Asha School’, has brought a great change in his life as now he can not only speak some words but also looks a bit of active in his life.
‘Earlier at home it was very difficult for us to take care of him and we could not leave him alone, the relieved parents said adding that now care and therapy provided at Asha school has improved their son remarkably.
