| IRCS organizes health checkup at GMC, SMGS | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, NOV 23: As a part of the ongoing health check up programme, the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu conducted a health check up of the students of Medical Block Pallanwala under phase-3 at Government Medical College and SMGS Hospital under the able guidance of the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Mr M K Dwivedi, who is also chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society, District Branch Jammu.
Nearly 18 students were examined under different categories like ENT, skin, medicine eye, ortho and surgery at the two hospitals. Dr Aniece Choudhary, HOD, ENT checked the students in the presence of their parents and referred different treatments for different aliments. On the other hand Dr Vipin Gupta checked the students afflicted with skin diseases. During the check up Dr Rajinder Thappa extended his wholehearted support alongwith Deputy Medical Superintendent, Dr Satish Sharma. In e GMC, Jammu, the team was extended support by the Principal of the College.
It is pertinent to mention that Indian Red Cross Society, district branch Jammu initiated the process of health check programme in Jammu district in collaboration with Medical and Education Department. During the first phase about two lakh students were checked and 24000 were referred for second phase. In respect of medical block Pallanwala, third phase has been completed whereas in respect of other medical blocks, it is under process.
The parents also lauded the efforts of the Indian Red Cross Society, district branch, Jammu in helping them to get their children not only medically examined, but for providing them necessary medicines which were procured by the IRCS from the open market.
