11/23/2009 10:52:15 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 23 -Agriculture Technocrats who had been appointed under Rehbar-e-Zirat scheme continued their relay hunger strike in support of their demand outside Exhibition Ground on its 8th consecutive day.

Raising anti- government slogans the agitating technocrats alleged that they were totally cheated by the government as last time on July 31 Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah had assured the delegation of the two bodies that within one month the regularization policy will be announced by his Government and till date nothing has been done in this direction.

The protesting Agriculture Technocrats said that in view of the cold response of the Government towards their demands, the association was left with no option but to adopt agitational path.

Among others who sat on hunger strike today were Dalwinder Singh, Balwinder Singh, Raman, Ram Pal Sharma and Pankaj Sharma.

In the meantime the Rehbar-E-Ziraat employees of Kathua district have decided to intensify their agitation if the government failed to concede their demand at the earliest.

The Forum in a meeting held under the chairmanship of its Chairman Vinod Sharma has warned the government of dire consequences, if the government did not accept their genuine demand by December 5, 2009.

General Secretary Joginder Singh and the President Sanjeev Verma of Agriculture Technocrats Association Kathua who also attended the meeting addressed the agitating employees. They alleged that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was no sincere to implement his promise made with the Agriculture Technocrats when they called on him some time back. They threatened that the Association will never tolerate any kind of the injustice with them and are mentally prepared to wage relentless struggle by starting fast unto death to get justice. They said that the Association is also organizing a mass rally on November 25 to focus the attention of the government towards their demand and has also appealed all their counterparts to actively take part in the rally.
