| Karra lays foundation stone of Community Hall at Bagh-e-Bahu | | Bhalla stresses for speedy completion of ongoing developmental works | | JAMMU, OCTOBER 05 - Minister for Finance, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Mr. Tariq Hameed Karra today laid foundation stone of Community Hall at Bahu Fort here this afternoon. The community hall would be constructed by Jammu Municipal Corporation at an estimated cost of Rs. 27 lakh. MLA Gandhi Nagar constituency Mr. Raman Bhalla, Commissioner JMC Mr. Vinod Sharma, Joint Director Information Mr. S. K. Sharma, Corporators Mr. Bansi Lal Gupta, Mrs. Sanosh Khajuria, Mrs. Asha Devi, Mrs. Namrita Sharma, Mr. Rita Devi, Mr. Pawan Singh, Mr. Kulbushan and other senior officers of JMC, Revenue were present on the occasion. After laying foundation stone, the Minister apprised the people that the coalition government is committed for equitable development of all the three regions of the state with special focus on ameliorating the lot of backward and down trodden sections of the society. He said that for raising the socio-economic conditions of the people especially poor masses living in remote areas, the central and state governments are equally concerned and have launched various development schemes through different departments being implemented by various departments. Mr Karra said that peace process in the state too the initiative of coalition government which is also equally essential factor for uplifting the down trodden class of the society and the present government is also acting as facilitator in bridging the gap between the India and Pakistan. Matter relating to border land is also under active consideration where mine has been laid from both sides for making available for cultivation purpose by the farmers. To ensure timely execution of developmental works, the Minister announced Rs. 15 lakh for Community Hall, Rs. 15 lakh repair and renovation of lanes and drains of Gorkha Nagar, Rs. 10 lakh for Guru Rabi Dass Temple surroundings, Rs. 3.5 lakh for Women Sanan Ghat at Mirkhari in Bagh-e-Bahu area, Rs. 2.7 lakh for repair and renovation of Ward No. 55 lanes, by-lanes and drains. He said that no compromise would be made on the quality of works and directed the officers to pay frequent visits to remote areas to have on the spot assessment of developmental activities. Regarding the face lifting of Bagh-e-Bahu area, the Minister said that the present government has taken many steps for the beautification of parks to attract the local people and lakhs of tourists and pilgrims visiting the state. MLA Gandhi Nagar Mr. Raman Bhalla who also spoke on the occasion and remind the supreme sacrifice of 5 young girls who lost their lives while on Railway Track work years back that is why he became particular to construct at-least a community hall and temple in their memory in the vicinity. More so the construction of community hall at Bagh-e-Bahu area, a long pending demand of the locals would be fulfilled and people of adjoining localities would also take benefit of the community hall. He said that on the completion of community hall about 20,000 population of Bahu Fort and its adjoining areas would be benefited. He asked the JMC engineers to complete it within a period of 9 months so that the people of the area could arrange social, marriage and other family related functions at their doorstep. He said that the present government is making all out concerted efforts to provide basic amenities to the poor masses which included road connectivity, drinking water, electricity, schools, colleges, public conveniences etc. He informed that the coalition government has sanctioned Rs. 200 crore for boring the 25 tube wells in the Gandhi Nagar constituency for eradicating the water scarcity from his entire constituency. He said now drilling machine could extract enough water for the first time from the depth of 600 ft. in greater kailash colony now the same machine is shifted to Sanjay Nagar under this ambitious plan. Nos. of tube wells to be bored raised from 25 similarly water reservoir tank and OHT as well and Water Filteration Plant will also be commissioned by Nov. 15. He said 15 new electric receiving station were established during the last 4 years in his constituency at the cost of Rs. 1.5--2 crores each. Similarly hefty amount spent on the upgradation of Gandhi Nagar Hospital alongwith regularization of 12 unauthorised colonies. Responding to the demands, Mr. Bhalla said that the government has regularized 12 unauthorized colonies of Bagh-e-Bahu area and said that efforts are on for getting the left out colonies regularized at the earliest. He informed that the construction work of Gandola Cable Car from Bagh-e-Bahu to Mubaraik Mandi and lake in Tawi Island would be started soon after ensuring the funds are received. He asked the engineers to personally monitor the development works in Gandhi Nagar constituency so that the ongoing works would be completed within stipulated time frame. MLA Mr. Raman Bhalla also demanded the release of funds for the construction of Gandola Car Project, lake in Tawi Island, Construction of Jungle type resort in Mahamaya forest for the attraction of 30% pilgrims who happen to visit Jammu while on way back from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. Apart from this Archeological Survey of India had earmarked Rs. 3.5 crore for the development of entire Bagh-e-Bahu Fort Complex comprising of musical fountains and maintenance of heritage complex. Road leading to Hari-Ke-Pouri shall be made double lane shortly. Later, the people of area put forth various demands to Minister and MLA being faced by them in their areas which include repair and renovation of Bagh-e-Bahu main road, upgradation of dispensary to PHC, Govt. High School to Govt. Higher Secondary School, regularization of unauthorized colonies of Bagh-e-Bahu area and relief to quake hit people. They assured them these would be looked into and solved in a phased manner. |
