This winter, over 20 legislators headed for the warmer states

Jammu, Nov 23: When Valley shivers to sub zero temperatures, the Darbar Move practice offers legislators unique opportunity of cozying up in Jammu. Interestingly, for some 20 legislators this winter is a tour time to warmer states
Members of two legislative committees have drawn up itineraries for travel to several states in the beginning of January. While two committees have confirmed their separate travel programs to around half a dozen states, other committees are considering such study tours. There are 13 House Committees of Legislative Assembly.
The House Committee on Privileges headed by Ashwani Sharma is headed for the states where much of Indian and foreign tourists visit during the winter months. This committee will be visiting Maharshtra, Goa and Gujarat. The Privilege Committee of Legislative Assembly, which had its meeting here today under the chairmanship of Ashwani Sharma, has decided to undertake study tour of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Goa in January, 2010 to get acquainted the working of such committees in these States and share experience.
This Committee was initially headed by Mubarak Gul of National Conference but he had to relinquish the post after being appointed as Political Advisor to Chief Minister in July this year. Qamar Ali Akhoon and Shabir Ahmed also had to relinquish the membership after being indicted into Omar Abdullah Ministry.
Other members of the Privileges Committee who will be travelling to Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat are:
Syed Basharat Ahmad Bukhari, Mohammad Ashraf Ganai, Peer Afaq Ahmad, Sham Lal Choudhary, Dr. Shafi Ahmad Wani and Er. Sheikh Abdul Rashid.
The Committee on Ethics, which has largest number of members has drawn out travel program for a study tour. States to be visited are yet to be identified. This committee is headed by Abdul Rehman Veeri of the Peoples Democratic Party. A decision to undertake a study tour was taken in the meeting of the Committee held under the chairmanship of Veeri on October 17.
This Committee was initially headed by Ghulam Hassan Mir but he had relinquish the post after being sworn in as Minister. Other members of the Committee are: Kafil-ur-Rehman, Mohammad Khalil Band, Rafi Ahmad Mir, Bimla Luthra, Mohammad Ashraf Ganai, Vikar Rasool Wani, Krishan Chand, Bharat Bhushan, Baldev Raj, Aijaz Ahmad Jan, Choudhary Sham Lal and Lal Chand.
Interestingly, Choudhary Sham Lal and Mohammad Ashraf Ganai are members are both committees and they have the double benefit if committees plan travel at different periods of time.
