| Commerce College celebrates Communal Harmony & National Integration week | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, NOVEMBER 24 - Government SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu buzzed with activity during the Communal Harmony and National Integration Week celebration which started from November 19. In this context, the NSS unit of the college conducted a series of activities. The programme started with motivational address to the NSS volunteers by NSS Programme Officers, Prof. K. S. Koushal and Prof. Banpreet Kour highlighting the values for promotion of communal harmony and programme followed by pledge to promote communal harmony and national integration among different sections of the society. During the week long celebration, college organized various activities like symposia, group song competition, collection of donations raised for the National Communal Harmony Foundation to help the needy. The Principal of the College, Prof. Hemla Aggarwal exhorted the students to make the people aware about the importance of maintaining harmony and peace between different faiths. In this connection, a two-day Civil Defence training programme was also started today by the Civil Defence authorities to enlighten the students about various disaster management programmes. The Civil Defence personnel also imparted training to the students regarding various methods of self defence like preparedness in carrying the victim to nearby hospital including providing first hand treatment. The NCC Cadets of the college organized a cultural programme to celebrate NCC and Communal Harmony day. HoD Commerce, Prof. Youdhvir Singh, while addressing the cadets and students exhorted them to uphold communal harmony and foster national integration. He also emphasized on the role of NCC in nation building.
