| Fake tender issue generates heat, Crime Branch likely to take up | | | Jammu / July 21, 2006 A tender notice published in English daily, regarding the contractual running of canteens in various city colleges, has erupted controversy. The officials of Higher Education Department (HED) have denied floating any such tender, shifted blame on miscreants and likely to refer it to the crime branch. Whereas those applied in response to the notice alleged a conspiracy behind the entire drama. The entire issue was brewed up yesterday, when aspirants for canteens started gathering at the colleges for the opening of the tenders. They were surprised to know after reaching colleges that tender notice was fake and the entire process was put on hold on the directions of the higher ups. When contacted Financial Advisor HED, Rajnish Gupta said that the tender notice was fake, as it’s not the responsibility of department to issue such notices. Under the new guidelines, this power lies with the Principal of colleges. It proves the clear cut involvement of miscreants in the entire controversy. Meanwhile, those applied in response to the tender termed it as a conspiracy by the college authorities to deny them these lucrative contracts. As they want to continue with the old contracts and similar kind of drama happened three years back as well.
