Kanwar of GMC wins first prize in inter-collegiate installation competition

Jammu, Nov 25: Kanwar Iqbal from Government Medical College, Jammu, maintained his supremacy by winning the first prize in inter- collegiate/ departmental installation competition organized by the department of students’ welfare, university of Jammu, under the display your talent 2009-10. The team from The Law School University of Jammu, consisting Sachin Bhagat and Nikhil Kumar Gupta was adjudged as second while the third position was clinched by Rohit Sharma and Narinder Kumar from institute of music and fine arts Jammu. The certificates of merit were awarded to Mehak Mahajan and Shailja Zutshi from GGM Science College (Morning), Rupali Sharma and Shivani Gupta from Government Women College, Parade and Arjun Sharma from PG Department of Mathematics, University of Jammu.
Suman Gupta and Brij Pal Anand, were among the adjudicators.
Seventeen teams from various departments of the university and its affiliated colleges participated in the contest.
Briefing the participants Vijay Atri, Assistant Dean, Cultural Affairs said that they are at liberty to use all the material which they use in other art compositions like painting, cartooning, rangoli, poster-making, collage and clay modeling and compose or create their own images with the raw material etc. The participants were also allowed to use waste material which was available in the surroundings.
The participants were required or create an atmosphere related with the title of the installation. Some of the interesting titles given to the installations included “Change on entering the world of art” “intoxication thrills but kills” “Metro cities oxygen supply-cremation of nature, makes us cry”.
It needs to be mentioned here that the 92.7 F.M organizations, presented special gifts to the first, second and third prize winners in addition to airing their interviews.
Prof. JS Tara, Dean Student Welfare, Rahul Makin and Sumit Sharma were also present on the occasion.
