| WHO PAINTED NAMES OF GHULAM NABI AZAD, TARA CHAND IN BLACK? | | | Early Times report
Jammu,November 25 : On Tuesday when Army chief Gen Deepak Kapoor dedicated Balidan Sthambh to the people of the state and handed it over to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah his deputy Tara Chand remained conspicuous with his absence.
Deputy Chief Minister was not the only notable absentee from the grand show.Several other senior congress leaders including Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, local legislator Raman Bhalla also stayed away from the ceremony.
Member Parliament from Jammu Madan Lal Sharma and regular visitor to the state JKPCC Chief Prof Saif Ud Din Soz was also not present during the ceremony which was attended by Union Minister and NC Chief Dr Farooq Abdullah, Tourism Minister Nawang Rigzin Zora, Political advisor to chief Minister Devender Singh Rana as well.
The most glaring aspect of the whole event came to light when it became clear that despite receiving invitations few of the congressmen chose to stay away from the ceremony.
This is evident from the fact that the plaque which was decorated by the army with colourful flowers was indeed painted black to hide names of Ghulam Nabi Azad and Tara Chand and even Dr Abdullah, who attended the function.
Along with these political leaders names of GoC-IN-C of Northern and western command Lt Gen TK Sapru and Lt-Gen BS Jaswal were also painted black. It is not immediately known why at all these names were painted black and who gave these instructions.
It may be mentioned that if organisers of the grand show had prepared a special plaque along with names of Ghulam Nabi Azad and Tara Chand it clearly meant that these leaders had given their consent after receiving the invitation yet they chose to stay away from the event.
