| Felling of green gold in Bhaderwah goes on unabated: Imtiyaz | | | Early Times Report Bhadarwah, Nov 26- Despite tall claims of the government of having checked the illegal felling of green gold in the state to a large extent, but the smuggling and felling of precious Deodar in Bhaderwah Forest division is continuing unabated.
‘A serious threat has been posed to the ecological imbalance by the corrupt forest officials who are hand in glove with forest mafia’, alleged Bhadarwah Action Committee President Imtiyaz Ahmed Butt and demanded inquiry against the responsible forest officials.
Imtiyaz appealed the Forest Minister and Chief Minister Omar Abdulla to look into the matter personally in order to save the precious wealth of the state and demanded strong action against Conservator Forest Chenab circle Doda.
It is pertinent to mention here that Police and forest officials have claimed to have seized hundreds of sleepers at Shiva forest area but in fact they have recovered these sleepers from the house of Abdul Quyoom Nmberdar, he said. Imtiyaz maintained that if the plunder of the forest wealth is allowed to continue at the present pace the day would not be far off when the famous Bhaderwah of Doda district would be devoid of any forest cover. He demanded stern action against the forest officials and the timber mafia for putting an end to the illegal felling of trees.
