| Dir Agri reviews progress of various schemes | | | JAMMU, OCTOBER 05 -Director Horticulture Jammu Dr M S Qasba reviewed the progress of implementation of Technology Mission Programme, RSVY and other developmental schemes under operation in Jammu division at a meeting divisional and district level officers here today. The Director directed all the field officers to gear up the field functionaries and ensure that the benefit of all schemes must reach to common orchardists/farmers. In order to create awareness among the farmers of district Doda and Udhampur about fruit cultivation on modern/scientific lines, it has been decided to organize a fruit show at Sangaldan on October 10. Chief Horticulture Officers of Udhampur and Doda districts were directed to give wide publicity to this effect so that maximum number of farmers from far-flung and downtrodden areas participate and take benefited of various developmental schemes and programmes of the department. He directed the concerned to work in their respective jurisdictions more efficiently and maitnain close contact with the farming community and have regular interactions with them while making them aware about various incentives being provided by the department for the establishment of orchards. Dr Qasba laid stressed upon the officers to hold Farmers Awareness Camps frequently to educate the farmers regarding various schemes/programmes and transfer of latest technology to the farmers enabling them to get maximum benefits under the departmental schemes in the meeting. The encouragement of unemployed youth particularly unemployed Agriculture Graduates for taking up of Agri-Clinics was also stressed. |
