Jammu, Nov 26: Stepping up the drive against the adulteration in food items especially keeping in view the ensuing Id-Ul-Azaha festival, an intensive checking of the food articles particularly meat, sweets, milk and milk products was undertaken by the checking team of food inspectors headed by the health officer of Jammu municipal corporation in the areas of Prem Nagar, Gujjar Nagar, Panjthirthi, Ustad Mohalla, New Plot, Janipur, Paloura, and BBC road, during the checking 30 Kgs of unwholesome cooked food items and sweets were destroyed on spot and about 62 establishments including meat shops, halwai shops, chicken meat shops, dhabas were checked. During checking 34 cases were booked under the provisions of PFA act and an amount of Rs 5300/- was realized as fine on spot from the defaulters.
The drive will continue and the shopkeepers dealing with food articles are asked to ensure supply of pure and fresh food articles to the public and also keep their premises neat and clean failing which they shall be dealt under law. |
