| Two Hizb militants killed in Doda encounter | | |

JAMMU, NOV 26 : Two militants of Hizb-ul-Mujaheedin (HM) were gunned down by the security forces in a fierce gun battle in mountainous Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir today, a Defence Ministry spokesman said.
''Acting on specific tip off about the presence of militants, troops of 10 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and police moved early this morning and launched a combing and search operation in Karandhi Dhar forest area near Dessa,'' Defence Ministry spokesman Lt Col Biplab Nath said. The militants on seeing a patrol party opened fire which was retaliated leading to the encounter.
The two militants killed in the encounter, were identified as Mohammad Rafi Parray of Lower Basti and Abdul Kasim of Lalur, Lt. Col. Nath said. |
