| K-oil quota enhanced for erstwhile Doda | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, NOV 27-The Government has decided to increase the kerosene quota to 7 liter per ration card per month for winter months for the rationees of Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts. Kerosene quota has already been enhanced for the rationees of Kashmir Valley while as in Jammu division the quota is 5 liter per ration card.
Announcing this at a high level meeting to review the stock of food-grains, LPG and kerosene in the State, especially in far-flung and snowbound areas here today, the Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) and Transport, . Qamar Ali Akhoon said that the decision has been taken to provide succour to the people of erstwhile Doda district who face harsh winter condition.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner/Secretary, CA&PD & Transport, Asgar Ali Samoon, Director, CA&PD Jammu, Hemant Kumar, General Manager, Food Corporation of India (FCI), Area Managers of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and Hindustan Petroleum (HP) and dealers of Kerosene of Jammu.
The Minister asked IOC and HP agencies to open LPG outlets at block-level in the State for onward supply to villages. He also instructed to stock LPG cylinders one month in advance in the Valley instead of 15 days, so that people do not face inconvenience due to closure of roads. He also asked the IOC and HP authorities to appoint a coordinator for Kashmir for checking pilferage of LPG and Kerosene supply.
Regarding stocking of foodgrains in Udhampur district, the Minister asked the General Manager, FCI & Director, CA&PD to visit Udhampur and identify a suitable building for storing foodgrains in consultation with Deputy Commissioner. He also asked them to have buffer stock of foodgrains and LPG cylinders in snowbound areas of Valley, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Leh and Kargil.
The meeting was informed that during the current month, 39,737 MTs of rice and 15,329 MTs of wheat have been lifted by CA&PD department from FCI godown for supply to Jammu and Srinagar besides additional 7227 MTs of rice for Srinagar for next month of December.
