| SUPREME SACRIFICE : | | ACE SHOOTER ARRIVED HOME DRAPPED IN TRICOLOUR | | Jammu, October 5 : Till Wednesday morning Joga Singh and Pritam Kour, ageing parents of Constable Randhir Singh (Jimmy), an ace shooter of Jammu and Kashmir police special operations group, were eagerly awaiting arrival of their son from Srinagar after he informed them on telephone that he was likely to be transferred to Jammu during the next week and was awaiting formal marching orders.
Randhir had also applied for leave from October 5 to join his family including wife and four month old son Harman.
But on Thursday, when Randhir arrived at his residence, drapped in National tricolour, his parent’s couldn’t stand on their feet to have a glimpse of their son for the last time.
Randhir Singh was one among seven security personnel who came in the line of fire and were killed during 24 hour long shootout with militants in the heart of the Srinagar. His wife Jasvinder Kaur wept inconsolably sitting by the side of her husband’s dead body soon after it arrived from Srinaagr late in the evening. Earlier in the day his mother even attempted to commit suicide by rushing out of their house towards canal running outside their residence in Belicharana area on the outskirts of Jammu city.
Simran Pal Singh, Randhirs brother- in- law said his ability to shoot accurately had earned him a place in the special operations group and was not a new comer. In Febraury this year, he had a close shave with death during an encounter with militants in Srinagar, he said. Several senior police officers paid their tributes and laid wreath on his dead body.Last rites of the martyr will be performed on Friday. |
