Early Times Report
Jammu Nov 27: Member BJP National Executive & former State President Dr. Nirmal Singh has appealed the State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to direct the concerned authorities to release appointment letters in favour of 29 candidates, who have qualified the written test and viva for the post of Naib Tehsildar.
These candidates have been selected on merit but are now being denied appointment on wrong grounds which have made them to suffer, said Dr Singh.
While addressing a press conference here today Dr Singh disclosed that the Service Selection Board issued three different notifications in the year 2002, 2005 and 2008 for filling up the posts of Naib Tehsildar.
‘The first two advertisements mentioned graduation as basic qualification, the third advertisement of 2008 said that "the candidate should have knowledge of Urdu". It means one should know to read or write Urdu and that he or she should not have passed with Urdu as a subject.
Asserting that the selection this time was fair and some high ups in the government could not get their near and dear ones selected, he alleged that these high-ups have been now unnecessarily imposing conditions to debar the meritorious candidates, thus playing with their future by demanding Matriculation Certificate having Urdu as a subject, while the advertisements issued by the Service Selection Board from time to time have no mention that Urdu was must.
He further said a total of 111 candidates were finally selected and asked to join at Srinagar. While all the 111 selected candidates submitted their documents and joined there, 81 among them were issued appointment letters while the remaining 29 were not allowed to join. They are being victimized because all of them hail from Jammu. It is a serious matter and the BJP strongly opposes discrimination with these selected candidates.
The BJP leader also criticized the State government for not taking effective steps to ensure timely supply of seeds and fertilizers to the farmers of Jammu region and farming community is left at the mercy of God by the non seriousness of the government.
Dr Singh, while expressing some foul over the reported move of the Union government about holding ‘quiet talks’ with the separatists, said that the BJP would oppose tooth and nail any such move which is aimed at granting any concession to such elements who have been indulging in anti-national activities and posing threat to the unity and integrity of the country. State Secretary Vibodh Gupta and Press Secretary Balbir Ram were also present in the press conference.
